28th June - Central Florida Zoo

Central Florida Zoo is a little smaller than Fota but the kids loved it. Tom really misses "nature stuff" so we thought a day here would help! We pretty much shared the park with a maximum of 20 other people.

There was a summer camp in progress there and Tom & Faye were dying to get involved! They followed the group about the park for the day. We met up with them again in the Butterfly house and although Tom wasn't allowed into the media room (insurance purposes), they left the door open and angled the TV for him to watch too : )

This was a fab value day out....$27  including a $3 donation to the Florida wildlife fund! There was a little waterpark in the centre and although we fogot the Togs, the kids went in there in their underwear anyway! All the one really as an hour later, they were wet through from rain!

There were some lovely unexpected surprises along the trail and the day finished with us getting saturated again! Went to dry off in the Butterfly house (The only covered section of the Zoo) but that brought more drama as the kids thought the Zoo keepers had deliberately killed all the butterflies by putting them in fames and they were very cross about it. They expected the Butterflies to be flying about like the outdoor garden. So they went and had a word with the summer camp instructors. I've given up on them now, they will never take my word for anything and have to hear it from the horses mouth!

Absolutely Brilliant Day!

The kids were just as excited about the sign at the entrance than anything else!
