Tuesday June 7th

After the morning dip in the pool and breakfast we headed off to check out the Club House for the complex we're in. They had a Meet & Greet this morning but we were the only ones who showed up, so Tom was presented with a box of 12 donuts - all different - and told "Take your pick". He was silent for 3 minutes.

The club house pool (which is much bigger and has some fun stuff) was being cleaned, so we headed off to find a Barber to get Tom a haircut instead. Had the best fun! It was like being part of a comedy show. There were 4 people there before us, an older Italian Mafia type guy, a native American Indian, a Dub! and a big black New Yorker. You couldn't have planned it! Tom was sat next to the New Yorker and was half terrified and half intrigued. He was a comedian who'd had a stroke and had moved to Florida to rehabilitate. He had the whole place in stitches.

Faye was amazed that Mum and Tom were the only people in the shop without a tan...even the Dub was quite dark! Tom got a fab haircut and the entertainment was mighty but $30??? That's equivalent to €20.50 !! I normally pay €10 - 12 !

There was no aircon there so we headed straight back home to the pool to cool off and have lunch. The food isn't great if you don't fancy pizza or pasta - unless you're in a really good restaurant. Was worried about Tom not eating enough (I know!....opposite problem at home) so I offered to do him a chicken curry this eve. Surprise! They don't do "curry" in Supermarkets out here. You can only buy it in a specialist restaurant!!! Might have to send the aunties to Green Saffron for supplies before they come out here! It is cheap to eat out here but sometimes you just want to eat at home and eat something other than pasta/pizza/burgers.

Will be on the spuds by the end of the week I'd say!

Have got the hang of the jeep now so will be heading off to collect Paul from the airport in a few hours. Will be great for him arriving "home" from Minnesota without jetlag!

Todays pics were taken by Faye and represent what she thinks is different in America!

Later!

M & Co

The In-sink-erator. Kids are terrified!
They think the phones are weird and can't stop laughing when people say, we'll call you on your cell!!!

They LOVE the pool rules and think it would be a great idea to get a pool at home....in yer dreams guys!

Everytime we venture out the front door, the word "sidewalk" has to be incorporated into every sentence. And by the way, Faye is now talking full-time with an American accent.
