We decided to tackle the Magic Kingdom today as they say it's one of the quieter days. I have never seen so many people in one place. The queue's were crazy - 75 minutes in some cases - but we did rush round and get our smart passes early.
The park was a little disappointing after the magic of Epcot as a few of the rides were closed for renovations. Some are gone completely and being replaced with new ones so there was a lot of construction work around. Having said that, the kids didn't notice. There were plenty of indoor things to do which were very cool and it was just as well because the Rainy Season, which was 3 weeks late, started literally with a bang early afternoon! The thunder and rain was unbelievable! It lasted an hour, which is apparently half an hour longer than any shower here, but still stayed really muggy afterwards. A sign of what was ahead for the evening....
We managed to get around all the rides (with the exception of Splash Mountain) once the rain stopped. They told me Thunder Mountain was more suitable for Faye's age so we opted for that. I could have killed the guide. It was a fairly horrendous roller coaster. Faye was a bit upset when she got off but I was even more whiter than usual and in desperate need of a brandy. I now know roller coasters are not for me anymore!
I was there on my own with the kids as Paul was in Philadelphia and was paranoid about not loosing one of them. I must have frightened the life out of them because they never left my side for the day thankfully! We were in the park for 8 hours when the lightening storm started and at that stage we were quite happy to leave.
The kids didn't mind missing the fireworks as we had the most incredible lightening on the journey home. I've never seen multi-coloured lightening before! It lasted 3 hours and was all over the news here. A spectacular end to a lovely day.
